Melissa Shaak is a Somerville, MA artist working at the intersection of experimental video and performance art, as well as in acrylics and mixed media on paper. She is a core member of Fountain Street Gallery in Boston’s SoWa Art + Design District. Her studio is located at River Street Artists/Waltham Mills.

Melissa has exhibited work at Fountain Street Gallery, Beacon Gallery, Piano Craft Gallery, Concord Art, Brickbottom Gallery, The Umbrella Arts Center, and The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center.

Melissa completed a residency at Vermont Studio Center and has taken courses at Tufts School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Mass College of Art. She has studied with artists Adria Arch and Robert Siegelman and video creator Michael Sheridan, and is a longstanding member of the Creativity Lab at the New Art Center.

Before taking up artmaking full time, Melissa was a senior administrator at Babson College.
